Who can join Rochester Male Chorus?
Any male who loves to sing, can carry a tune, and who likes to support our community (including Rochester and surrounding area.)
Is reading music a prerequisite for membership?
No, many of the members learn their parts through the weekly and section rehearsals.
You'all look pretty fancy. Do I need to buy a tux?
No, the chorus provides a tux (jacket and pants, ties, vests, and a cummerbund), a green suit jacket and tie, and a blue polo shirt. You will need to get a white tuxedo shirt, a regular white shirt, normal black pants to go with the green jacket, and khaki pants to go with the blue polo shirt.
What is the process for joining?
Come to 3 rehearsals and sing along. We will then will assess best fit (tenor, baritone, bass).
Where and when are rehearsals held?
Rochester Male Chorus rehearses every Monday at 7pm from September through May. Rehearsals are held at Peace United Church of Christ, 1503 2nd Ave NE (behind Silver Lake Shopping Center).
(Rehearsals are not held between the Christmas concert and January.)
For what sorts of events does the Chorus perform?
RMC performs 2 concerts a year: a Christmas concert and a spring dinner concert. We also perform for such events as Eagles' Cancer Telethon, area food shelf drives, RochesterFest Parade, senior centers and hospice events, and many other community functions.
Does RMC perform for private events?
Yes, RMC is for hire for private parties and events. The chorus becomes quite popular around the holidays so book your event early.
